Lower Ball Joint Barry's Comments: Replace these when they show any sign of vertical or horizontal play and after you crash. |

Tie Rod End Barry's Comments: Replace these when they show any sign of vertical or horizontal play and after you crash. Also, check out the remover tool below. |

Tie Rod End Remover Barry's Comments: You need one of these tools. Beating on a steering knuckle with a hammer to remove the tie rod end is simply bogus. Not only do you not look good doing it, you're risking the alignment of your car. This tool works great and is bullet-proof. I've had the same one for over 24 years with no issues. The only thing required to keep it in perfect condition is lubricating the screw threads with grease. |

Brake Caliper Parts Barry's Comments: This is a SPEED related secret. Brakes with old seals DRAG. We rebuilt our calipers at least once per season and sometimes more. |

Brake Rotors Barry's Comments: Replace your rotors if there is cracking or glazing. Back in the day, I knew a racer who started having braking problems (i.e. lack of braking power and high pad wear). Replacing the rotors was the fix. Here is a handling and acceleration related secret: we took our brand new rotors and turned them down to the minimum thickness right away -- to reduce rotational inertia and un-sprung weight. |
