Effective 3/1/89 the SCCA has officially renamed the Sports Renault the SCCA Spec Racer.
The New Price
Effective 3/1/89 SCCA Enterprises announced a price increase for a Spec Racer Kit.
The new price is $12,495.

Zan Smith Resigns
Zan Smith, President of SCCA Enterprises, has resigned to pursue other business matters.
His successor, Richard Ericson, comes form the computer industry and specializes in
small business development. Richard has indicated that he is dedicated to improving
the Spec Racer program.

Bridgestone Selected as Spec Racer Tire
Bridgestone has been selected as the new spec tire for the SCCA's Spec Racer class.
Beginning Jan. 1, 1990, Bridgestone's Potenza RE71R will be the specified tire for use in
the class.
The three year contract which the Club signed
with Bridgestone came after an extensive series of tests and evaluations determined that
Bridgestone offered the best overall benefit for SCCA members.

Sports Renault remains SCCAs most popular class
averaging 22.7 entries per event
Dave Daughtery wins CenDiv with 75 points
Dave Tenney finishes second in CenDiv with 74 points
(The above two point totals made possible by the 2nd Spec Racer Festival held at Elkhart
Lake in September)
Jeff Beck finishes 5th in CenDiv with 41 points
Warren Stillwell finishes 7th in CenDiv with 36 points
Robert Mumm finishes 8th in CenDiv with 32 points. We just make the provisional to
the Runoffs. We finished 19th after a horrible qualifying experience.
Clay Sylvester finishes 2nd in SWDiv with 48 points
